Feeling Better

I haven't been dead, my home laptop has been living an exciting and independent life of its own. It went off to a workshop to have groovy new software put onto it, and then it went on the road doing a tour with our business. Leaving me home alone, cut off from my usual channels of communication...

Hi! My name is Mishymoocow...
Hi Mishymoocow
... It's been 5 days since my last migraine.

As a result, (as I told [info]mr_bassman yesterday), "The sun is shining, the birds are singing, there's a spring in my step...".

But seriously. The Topamax seems to be helping a lot now I'm on 75mg per day (1 in AM, 2 in PM). I'm not planning to increase to 100 unless I have another migraine this week. Most of the side-effects are settling down. The burning pins and needles in feet are a bit strange but only occasional now. I seem to be mostly eating again, although it's easy to get distracted if I am concentrating on something. Yesterday I worked till 7pm on a bowl of porridge, then nearly fell over - quite unnecessary. Yet to have any weight loss.

Hubby has been known to follow me around the house saying, "Wouldn't you like to eat this nice apple? Or a banana? Go on, eat a banana - for me?!" Slightly surreal, but very caring. I have tried to point out that even a week's total fasting would be unlikely to place me in any physical danger as I tend to be a voluptuous moocow. I guess he really does still see me as the underweight girl he first knew...omg...more than two decades ago.

The fatigue/trembling/can hardly walk-ness is also wearing off. I met a local dog-walking acquaintance, a nice gentleman in his 70s who recently had a stroke. A few weeks ago I was having to walk quite slowly so he wasn't being left behind. This week he was leaving me behind and he had to slow right down so I could keep up. He was quite concerned and whispered to me, "Does this mean it's all downhill for you from here?" I was able to reassure him, but I did shed a few tears at home about my enfeebled state, even if it is only temporary.

On the work front, I am in the process of selling one segment of our business. It was a difficult decision because it's something I built from the ground up since 2000, so it's my 'baby' in many respects. But it was becoming clear it's too much for me and something's gotta give. It's the part of the business that is running very nicely on it's own, but doesn't fit for reasons that are partly personal. I'm actually very proud of the way I'm going about the handover, because so far it's going very smoothly. Maybe one day I'll have another career as a change manager? Maybe I'll have a little rest first.

Enjoy the rest of today.
