Today we changed the contaption! It took 2 hours, including shower, removal of the contraption, removal of the grotty liner, delicate washing of arm, air drying, putting on the new liner, washing & drying straps of contraption, putting contraption back on, and putting clean sling back on. At which point we retired to bed for a nap to restore our nerves. I'm not sure who sweated more with anxiety: me or Hubby. My hubby is the most clever, gentle & patient hubby ever. I've already told him I can't think of any way the statute of limitations will ever run out on all he's had to do during the broken arm.
Given that I survived the experience on 1 Endone & 1 Panadol - and actually it didn't hurt much, it was more the knowledge that one wrong move & it really, really would! - I can confidently say that I think yhe bones must be healing. I'm certainly taking enough calcium supplementation! Swelling mostly much better, though the contraption changing has made things a bit puffy.
The contraption was changed without tears, swearing or yelling either. I was horribly afraid I would yell unpleasantly if Hubby insdvertently hurt me. Phew.
Yesterday my GP2 asked her receptionist to phone & see how I was going with the X-ray as she hadn't heard. Now that's what I call service! Sure they waited till the clinic was quiet, but way to go. I'm to ring bak in 10 days or so & they will give me another X-Ray referral for my next Ortho review on 17th Jan.
On 27th, after my last post, my brother rang to say he was engaged! He and his fiancee are both divorced - actually, she is trying, but her ex won't sign any paperwork I gather - so to say I am surprised is to slightly underestimate my feelings. I am happy for him. His lady is the nicest of his string of monogamus relationships, and he seems happier than I've known him in years. I hear from my mum that his fiancee says she is happier than she's ever been so it all seems good. And she's good to mum, which is important as my bro still lives at home.
Earlier in the day I braved Chadstone to get my hair washed. The ladies at Just Cuts are very welcoming and always ask how things are going. I find this is not solely the kindness of their natures. They only charge $5 for the wash so Hubby has been tipping them $2 direct to the girl who washes my hair. He told me he wants to make sure they're willing to keep doing it, even if I have the contraption on for weeks.
